Gerard’s parents came to Tanzania when he was a year old, and growing up in the bush planted the seed of a lifetime’s love for wildlife and wild spaces.
He joined the safari business at the age of 21, guiding private clients and photographic expeditions in Zambia, Kenya, Botswana, Namibia and Southern Sudan as well as his home turf in Tanzania.
His decades in the business have comprised time with Norman Carr, Kerr & Downey, and Robin Hurt Safaris. He now works full-time with us in our Serengeti camps, lending his experience and expertise to the smooth running of our fleet of vehicles, and the training and mentorship of our guides.
His incomparable experience and knowledge of Tanzania’s wild places yields endless depths to any safari, on top of which he is an avid photographer with an eye for the beauty of Serengeti’s stunning landscapes. When not behind a lens or out in the bush, he can be found indulging his other great passion – fishing!
