The Bridge to Ngare

There can be few more exhilarating and exotic ways to enter your safari camp than a suspension bridge above the mighty Mara river, and for everyone who experiences the bridge to Alex Walker’s Ngare Camp it is unforgettable. Even if the name fades, this wonderful camp will always be “the one with the amazing bridge!”

And it is never just a bridge: for many it is the gateway to long-imagined adventures, for a handful a daunting challenge that quickly becomes a thrill. For some – including our brilliant guides and our camp dog Wifi – it’s simply the way to work; for others a romantic spot to linger and watch the sun rise over the Mara at the start of another glorious day.

One of the very special guests to have trundled across the bridge was our rescued baby elephant Pili…

… and if you’re very lucky it might even be the place you photograph a croc from directly above – not many get that angle!

However you experience the bridge, it is always a special part of the unique Ngare experience.
