Moto Ghari’s – Our Vehicles

There has been a persistent rumour that the reason Alex insists on such a fleet of vehicles is his insatiable passion for customising them: what goes into the workshop as a perfectly normal LandCruiser emerges sliced and diced into a lean, mean safari machine, in accordance with his various designs.

As a photographer, chief among Alex’s requirements for any vehicle is that it should essentially be a climbing frame that accommodates as many body and lens positions as necessary… and comfortable enough to inspire the desire to spend all day in them.

Canvas roofs and sides offer protection from the sun and wind when you need it, and peel back when you don’t: the idea is to put as little as possible in the way of feeling like nothing separates you from the wilderness.

Serengeti South in the green season can be a long, hard lesson on being stuck in the mud for the uninitiated, and so being equipped with the means to emerge from the mire is an entry-level requirement for our cars – as well as our guides. The confidence that comes with this means that our guides are unafraid of venturing off the beaten tracks, and offering you access to areas that others will avoid, erring on the side of caution.

In short, we aim to provide you with a set of wheels that is comfortable, able to handle the terrain and cover the distance, and equipped to deal with any form of weather that comes its way.
